Ionie Benjamin is a journalist, presenter and media minister experienced in creating a diversity of media content for magazines, newspapers, radio and television. For example, as a presenter and producer for local radio and contributor for the BBC TV and Sky TV and a range of community initiatives.
Experienced researcher, interviewer, columnist, news reporter, human interest features, personality profiles, political and business reports – stories that inform, educate and inspire. The ultimate aim is to ensure that issues people are interested in are represented at the highest level to the widest possible audiences.
Author And Media Trailblazer
Ionie Benjamin is author of very first book written on the subject of The Black Press In Britain. Inspired to write the book while researching to complete a thesis about Black representation in the media during which discovering there was not a single book written on the subject.
The discovery led to interviewing media trailblazers, academics, historians and many others. In addition, spending numerous hours at the British Library and British Newspaper Library searching through the archives and compiling research, eventually leading to completing the book, The Black Press In Britain.
The broadcaster and media trailblazer, Sir Trevor McDonald, in the foreword, described The Black Press In Britain, as an excellent reference of the path we have travelled and the milestones reached.
Ionie Benjamin has also produced programmes and written features which have broken new ground in broadcasting and the press.
